The Theology of Music in Worship

Exploring what the Bible teaches about corporate worship in the local church. This session will center on how to utilize all of your musicians in corporate worship from the youngest to the oldest.

Dr. Will Whittaker holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with emphases in voice and choral conducting from Auburn University and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Church Music with specializations in worship and hymnology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where his dissertation research focused on choral ministries in intergenerational churches. He is the author of the book Cultivating Intergenerational Worship, which is available from GC2 Press. Beyond his local church ministry at Ivy Creek Baptist in Buford, GA, Will is a frequent teacher and clinician at worship conferences throughout America and is an adjunct Professor of Church Music at Truett McConnell University and a DMA Research Coordinator for New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is an active member in both the Baptist Church Music Conference and Metro II Music Conference. He continues to write about his research on intergenerational worship on his blog, www.drwillwhittaker.org. Will and his wife, Deanna, have three sons: Jon Thomas, Tyler, and Andrew.
